Avaaz is a global civic organization promoting activism on several topics such as human rights, climate change, corruption, poverty and conflict. The community with more than 13 million members is trying to ‘organize citizens of all nations to close the gap between the world we have and the world most people everywhere want’. Avaaz creates petitions that are signed by the Avaaz members and delivered to global and local decision-makers, organize demonstrations and uses donations to support their causes such as supporting activists to break the Internet blackout in several countries during Arab Spring.

Care2.org is an online community counting over 18 million members, consisting of people wanting to make an impact and change the world for the better. Care2’s mission, as they state on their website, is to ‘help people to make the world a better place’. Members can create and distribute petitions, read and write articles about a healthy and sustainable lifestyle, donate to charities, collect ‘Butterfly Credits’ that can be redeemed for good causes, send free e-cards, network and much more.
